FAQs
Am I a suitable candidate?
Our patients, usually in their 40s to 60s, choose facial enhancement for many personal reasons, which often include:
- Correcting deep wrinkles in the cheeks
- Smoothing deep marionette lines (the fold of skin that runs from the nose to the corner of the mouth)
- Tightening loose skin and muscles, and removing excess fat from the neck
- Achieving a well-defined jaw line
Can I combine a neck or chin lift with another procedure?
Our patients often combine neck lift and chin lift with other facial surgery procedures like eyelid surgery and brow lift for a more comprehensive facial enhancement. Some patients also choose facial implants to build up an area of their face, such as receding chin or to define their cheekbones. They also choose from non-surgical procedures such as injectable fillers and resurfacing options.
Will a neck or chin lift stop the ageing process?
The improvements from face lift surgery are long lasting, from 5 to 10 years. However, it can’t stop the ageing process or affect contributing factors. When approached with realistic expectations about the improvements face lift and neck lift surgery can provide, our patients are usually pleased with their results.
What to expect
Your procedure
Your procedure is performed either under heavy sedation or general anaesthesia in our on-site, outpatient facility. Because this procedure requires extreme precision, it can take your surgeon several hours to complete. Additional procedures will increase the length of your surgery. You will need someone to drive you home and help you for a few days afterwards.
Your Recovery
Your recovery time will depend on the extent of your surgery. You should expect to have bruising, swelling, and stiff facial movements for the first few weeks, after which your improvements should gradually be revealed. Most patients are able to return to light activity, including work, after about 2 weeks, and resume more strenuous activity a few weeks later. To promote proper healing, you should limit sun exposure for several months.
