FAQs

What areas of the face does a mid-facelift target?

A mid-face lift is designed to help patients who choose to have facial rejuvenation specifically to address signs of aging in the middle part of the face. This procedure is particularly effective at enhancing the cheekbones and the area surrounding the eyes for a more youthful facial aesthetic.

Am I a suitable candidate?

Patients who have this procedure are often those with relatively good skin elasticity and individuals who are not looking for results that are better attained with a full face lift procedure.

What to expect

THE PROCEDURE

A traditional mid-face lift procedure involves small incisions made within the hairline around the temples, and sometimes in the lower eyelid and in the mouth. Fat and muscle tissue are adjusted and the skin of the mid-face is pulled up for a smoother appearance. Mid-face lift surgery typically takes about two hours to complete under general anaesthesia. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Mid-face lift procedures can involve a variety of techniques, including endoscopic surgery which involves smaller incisions and typically a shorter recovery period. One of our plastic surgeons will discuss techniques that may be used at your initial consultation.

 RECOVERY

Some swelling, bruising, and discomfort can be expected in the days following mid-face lift surgery; however, any pain can be alleviated with medication. Mid-face lift patients can usually return to normal daily routines after about a week. Strenuous activity should be avoided for several weeks after surgery, and care should be taken to protect the face from potential harm. Any scarring from the procedure should be well-hidden within the hairline and/or natural creases in the face.
